Some revolutions are televised. Others are pushed to a hidden GitHub repo.

The Trump administration is planning a whole government AI rollout for July 4… though we only know this because someone spotted the code repository before it vanished.

The project, led by a former Tesla engineer, aims to make the US government operate more like a tech startup. Leaked features include:

• A chatbot for federal services • An all-in-one API for OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic • A live dashboard called CONSOLE to track model use across agencies

Most vendors listed are FedRAMP® certified, but not all. And while Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency is tasked with federal cyber defence, it’s unclear who’s overseeing the rollout.

In an age of government data breaches, is it surprising - or fitting - that the blueprint for AI-ifying the entire federal workforce was sitting in a public GitHub repository for anyone to fork?
