Kodak was perfectly aligned... to film.

Kodak was perfectly aligned… to film.

Interesting lunchtime talk from Jonathan Trevor of Saïd Business School, University of Oxford on strategic alignment.

The top symptoms of misalignment: lack of collaboration (56%), resistance to change (53%), poor strategy execution (52%).

But then again: Kodak was perfectly aligned… to film.

To my mind the big question is how do we align to a future that’s changing exponentially faster than our ability to reorganise?

Some approaches: rolling strategic foresight, constant customer feedback loops, building genuine innovation culture. Though as anyone who’s tried knows, these are easier said than done.
